NICK`S STORY

Nick Lashley is a Los Angeles based guitarist, songwriter and producer.
Nick was born and raised in London and discovered the guitar and an immense passion for music at a
very early age. By the time he was teenager, he was already cutting his teeth playing gigs around England
in various groups.
By his early twenties, Nick had secured a coveted gig in Virgin Records English rock band King Swamp.
They released two studio albums and extensively toured across america (Nick shared guitar duties with
Dominic Miller . . . currently Sting`s guitarist of many years). The group disbanded in 1991 and having
visited LA many times on the road Nick realized that this was the place for a young guitarist to realize his
dreams.
Soon after Nick arrived in LA, was asked to play with Canada`s Sass Jordan and was touring the length
and breadth of North America playing Sass`s style of Bluesy Rock N Roll. During this process, Nick had
made friends with a young drummer that Sass had hired by the name of Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters).
As one of Sass`s tours was drawing to a close late in 1994, Nick and Taylor were spotted and invited to
audition for a young singer called Alanis Morissette. Thus began a wild and crazy rollercoaster ride that
was the "Jagged Little Pill" tour. Nick stayed on as Alanis`s guitar player for the 7 years that followed
appearing on countless tours and TV shows around the globe. Nick also plays guitar on two of Alanis`s
studio albums ”Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie” and “Under Rug Swept”and on the iconic City Of
Angels song “Uninvited” as well as on her "MTV Unplugged Album” on which he co-wrote a song with
Alanis called "No Pressure Over Cappucino”.
By the end of 2001, Nick was feeling the itch to explore some new directions musically and immediately
was invited by Mick Jagger to perform live shows and on TV to promote Mick`s solo Album "Goddess in
the Doorway" including an appearance on Saturday Night Live.
As the 2000`s rolled on, Nick continued his session guitar career and wound up in a wide variety of
different situations either performing live or in the studio with artists such as Carly Simon, Robbie
Robertson, Michelle Branch, Lisa Marie Presley, Avril Lavigne, Chris Isaak, Ben Taylor and Tommy Lee.
Nick plays the now famous acoustic guitar hook on Natasha Bedingfield’s song Unwritten. (#1 all over
the world, song of the year 2006)
More recently Nick has chosen the musical path of songwriting and production and has cowritten/
produced artists such as Natasha Bedingfield, Greyson Chance, Robbie Williams, David
Archuleta, Ben Taylor, The Struts, The Kaiser Chiefs and. Nick is a frequent collaborator with acclaimed
songwriter and New Radicals brainchild Gregg Alexander and Danielle Brisebois. In 2012 Gregg and
Nick and Danielle worked on the soundtrack for John Carney`s film "Begin Again" (Academy Award
Writer and Director of “Once”). Their song "Lost Stars” )sung by Adam Levine) was nominated for an
Oscar in 2015.Besides collaborating on projects with Gregg and Danielle
Nick continues to explore the world of film. In 2018 he contributed original songs and score for "Spare
Room" a film currently debuting at major film festivals. Nick has also had his music placed in film
trailers such as Spiderman Homecoming (2018) and Johnny English (2018).
